講座綱要：

何謂當代台灣錄像藝術？相較過去1980年代至1990年代的創作者，新世代藝術家提出了什麼樣殊異的影像創置與理念？饒加恩與曾御欽是其中兩位極具代表性的作者。曾獲台新獎殊榮的饒加恩，擅長將現實議題與擬構的視覺技藝融為一體，體現真實事件未能輕易再現的題旨。而作品曾入選德國文件展的曾御欽，匯融真實與記憶、身體與聲響的語彙方略，深刻至極。兩位藝術家看似詩意、如夢似幻的音像肌理，不僅關乎美學問題，也直指現實事件涉及身體與回憶的圖譜，更誘發歷史、社會與文化的想像。換言之，新世代藝術家以另種結合美學與政治、歷史與文化的當代視域，形塑了屬於新世紀的影像實踐與思想。

The Image of Mirage: New Realms in Contemporary Taiwanese Video Art

What is Taiwanese Video Art? What distinctive video images creations and concept have been presented by the new generation of artists, compared to those from the 1980s and 1990s? JAO Chia-EN and TSENG Yu-chin are two representative artists among this new generation. As an honored recipient of the Taishin Art Prize, JAO Chia-En JAO is adept at unifying topics from reality with virtually constructed visual technology to present themes that cannot be easily reproduced through actual events. TSENG Yu-Chin, whose work had been accepted to Kassel Documenta, makes an indelible impression with his lexiconographic techniques that meld reality with memory, body, and sound.  The seemingly poetic, dreamlike audio-visual textures are not merely an aesthetic concern; they direct and map out ways in which reality implicates the body and memory, and evoke imaginings of history, society and culture. In other words, the New Generation Artists have shaped a imaging practice and school of thought that belongs to a new century by recombining aesthetics with politics, history and culture.
